True Beauty

Before beauty is struggle

They say if you are not crazy

Don’t worry

You are only one traumatic event away

From all of that changing

Before love is hatred

I see people put on this mask of happiness

Then walk around like they did something

I see through the fakeness

But everybody has to live their life

Before comfort is abandonment

Show me the person betrayed

By His own people

Yet still carries His cross

Stabbed and left to hang

Before courage is cowardice

I am thankful for my struggles

Which make me the exciting character that I am

Unafraid of embarrassment

I have been put in that situation so many times

Before abundance is scarcity

Don’t be impressed with the direction

Be impressed with why I rose up

After being left to figure it out on my own

How calmly I gathered myself and punched back

Before light is darkness

I believe in redemption

By serving others

We can work through the darkness

And touch the green light across the river

Before peace is war

If I always stay quiet about the ugly

That doesn’t mean I am not aware

I have chosen to promote the positive

I have chosen to call life beautiful
